TIGGES strengthens the data protection practice group at the Düsseldorf office as of October 1, 2021 with the new Of Counsel Attorney at Law Dr. Thomas Riemann.
Dr. Thomas Riemann was previously head of the legal department of the Verband der Vereine Creditreform e.V. in Neuss. He was also Managing Director of the association “Die Wirtschaftsauskunfteien e.V.”, whose members are the major credit agencies.
Dr Riemann began his career as a lawyer at various law firms before he first became intensively involved with data protection law during his time at the Federation of German Industries in the early 1990s. This was followed by positions in leading positions at the telecommunications provider o.tel.o, at an RWE group company and as a compliance officer in the pharmaceutical industry (Johnson & Johnson) until he became chief legal counsel at Creditreform about 15 years ago. In this function, as well as in his capacity as managing director of the industry association “Die Wirtschaftsauskunfteien”, he is intensively involved with the legal framework conditions for credit agencies and debt collection companies, and in particular with questions of data protection law.
With Dr. Riemann, the data protection competence team to four specialized lawyers. The team provides comprehensive advice to companies of various sizes and industries on both national and cross-border data protection issues. The data protection expertise is complemented by the services of the associated consulting firm TIGGES DCO, which focuses on integrated advice in the areas of data protection, compliance and organization.
