TIGGES files criminal charges against Vladimir Putin and Sergei Lavrov with the Federal Public Prosecutor General for violation of the International Criminal Code and the Charter of the United Nations

We are deeply shocked by the terrible events in Ukraine. The feeling of powerless helplessness gives rise to anger at those responsible in Moscow, whose aggression is plunging a sovereign nation into misery and threatening world peace.

Our law firm has therefore filed a criminal complaint with the Federal Public Prosecutor General against the President and the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Mr. Putin and Mr. Lavrov, for violating the International Criminal Code and the Charter of the United Nations.
We are aware of the limited prospect of legal success and, above all, of the fact that this will unfortunately not bring about the end to the ongoing aggression that we all so long for. But as lawyers, we firmly believe that our world will only remain worth living in if we can rely on the law and on agreements and try to enforce them with the means at our disposal.

Of course, we would also like to try to help the Ukrainian refugees, hundreds of thousands of whom have already begun to flee to Poland. As a law firm, we have had close ties to our neighboring country Poland for over 30 years. Through our direct contacts and relationships in various Polish cities, we are currently finding out which specific assistance is most effective on the ground and are getting involved accordingly.

In the future, comprehensive concrete help will also be needed for refugees arriving in Germany. Here, too, we will provide assistance through cooperation with experienced organizations and institutions, e.g. with free legal advice.

We sincerely hope for an early end to the acts of aggression on sovereign Ukrainian soil and assure the Ukrainian people of our solidarity and support in these dark hours.
